Hurricane Simon has strengthened to Category 4 as it closes in on Mexico's Pacific coast, posing the greatest direct threat of three storms active at the same time. Tropical Storm Rachel is also tracking toward Mexico, creating extra strain for authorities handling both storms at once.

Separately, Hurricane Isaias has hit the Gulf region of the United States. The unusual combination of three named storms puts both the Mexican Pacific coast and parts of the US Gulf facing serious weather alerts. Emergency services on both sides of the border are urging residents to take precautions, while forecasters are closely watching the movement of all three systems. The situation remains rapidly developing, with conditions expected to worsen before they improve.
